Hybrid Home Care Maintenance Instructions
To keep your Hybrid prosthesis in excellent condition, follow these daily maintenance tips:
Flossing: Use super-floss at least once a day, ideally two to three times daily, to remove bacteria and food debris. Nighttime flossing is especially important, as saliva production decreases during sleep, reducing the mouthβs natural cleaning ability.
Brushing: Use a manual or automatic toothbrush, like the Sonicare Flexcare, to clean all surfaces. Don’t forget to brush the top of your tongue to reduce bacterial buildup.
Interdental Tools: Use the following aids to clean hard-to-reach areas:
Proxibrush (if it fits)
Soft Pick
End-tuft brush
Rubber tip
Rinsing: Rinse twice a day with Listerine for added protection. Lubricate all cleaning aids by dipping them in Listerine, and use non-abrasive toothpaste to avoid damaging the prosthesis.
Hybrid Prosthesis Care
For the first three months after your Hybrid prosthesis is inserted, itβs in the critical healing phase. Avoid foods that require significant chewing force, including:
Hard bread (e.g., bagels)
Raw carrots
Hard fruits (e.g., apples)
Tough meats
After this period, you can resume normal chewing but should still avoid extremely hard items like:
Ice
Hard nuts
Bones (e.g., chicken wings, ribs)
Popcorn kernels
Preventing Damage
To extend the life of your Hybrid prosthesis, avoid habits like:
Biting fingernails or tags
Opening packages with your teeth
Chewing on non-food items
Continued Hybrid Maintenance
Regular professional cleanings are essential. Schedule hygiene appointments every 3-4 months for thorough cleanings and periodic X-rays to monitor bone levels. Bring your night guard to each visit for inspection, as it protects against clenching and grinding.
For any damage, like chipping or cracks, repairs may be required. Ask our team about extended warranty options through the Dental Warranty program.
